We’ve had the longest run of any state or region in hiphop history. Future, 21 Savage, Playboi Carti, and even Lil Baby are still top streaming artist. Gunna is doing his thing and Thug is about to have some #1 hits within the next month or two. If Atlanta fell off, who’s on?

Atlanta never had the top rapper in the game, in any year.

I agree but we do have the highest selling hiphop album EVER and no one can dispute that Atlanta has had the longest run of any city while staying true to our sound.
How when the biggest Atlanta producers are not from Atlanta

Zaytoven from Cali born and raised until adulthood

Metro from St. Louis born and raised until adulthood

Lex Luger from Virginia born and raised until adulthood …

They all had their own sound that didn’t sound anything like born and raised ATL producers like lil John and Jermaine dupri

Metro and Lex were definitely influenced by the trap sound and the trap sound is synonymous with Atlanta. It also took Atlanta artist to make them who they are. Metro isn’t giving Nelly beats and becoming who he is.
