people always talk about the pg's of today's game and how they've changed the league but truth be told the first pg revolution came in the late 90's and early 2000's these were the first class of uber athletic, explosive pg's who could drop 30 as easily as they could get 10 dimes shout out to Nate archibald, Oscar robertson, magic and zeek for being the first architects and going against the grain of a traditional pg

Figure we could use something else besides all of these  vs:troll: vs:childplease: threads

I think at the time coaches still didn't know how to maximize their talents to a championship level. Or GMs didn't know how to build around them. Now combo guards have more utility. Same with these undersized power forwards who are now in vogue but at the time couldn't get playing time.
And then the traditional plodding C is for the most part undermined by the amare type small ball C dantonio brought on. But theres the hyper Athletic long players like whiteside or gobert who aren't undermined by that type player.

Because these guys and PGs like them can never lead a team to a ring.
Well...no single player can will his team to a championship. So you can say the same thing for High-flying SF's or shot blocking PF's or any one player and it will always be true.

I'm not saying Steve Francis is gonna lead you to a title if you put him on the Bad Boy Pistons :whoa:....but they'd be a hell of a team regardless of who their scoring PG is, becuase they were built to win that way.

I said lead to a championship. Meaning none of them could be the #1 option on a championship team.

Good point, the only major difference with this crop of PGs I see is the 3 point shot, but that's prob more dude to the fact that there wasn't as much emphasis on that shot then as there is now. They would be feasting in today's NBA :wow:

Gilbert arenas was doing all that including the three points. Dropping 30 like its nothing. Could still get you six or seven assists. We had a top offense and posters from other teams would argue he wasn't really a pg. Yet when you watched him play whatever it was he was putting so much pressure on the opposing team defense. He had a little curry in him and a little Harden. Pull up threes from half court
