Ever since the mid 2000s it seems the way most people got famous in rap is to be on every hook. (future, pharell, drake, cudi, wayne, young thug, travis scott).

People got used to your sound without it being forced and all of a sudden you were everywhere.

dudes need to start improving their songwriting to the point hooks aren't no longer necessary, hooks ruin replay value and cheapens the music

check the song in your sig, thats an example of proper songwriting, the song moves and transitions rather than recycles itself in the hook verse hook verse hook pattern

yes that is a good example of advanced usage of a hook, but there are far far far enough great songs that use repeating hooks to make ya point moot breh. but tbh it won't hurt to see it more often.

yeah and that "great song" with a repeated chorus would've came out greater if it had better song writing structure

that's just generalizing. to much diversity of song structures, subject matters, sub genres, lyrical schemes, flows etc n all that to make such a blanket statement. but like i said, I agree it wont hurt to see more advanced hooks more often

nah, hooks are only good for tracks that are meant to be played at parties or clubs, they're all made to be simple and catchy for everyone to singalong too. Real music don't need hooks, just look at most of the music from the 60s and most of the great bands from that era, the music had actual structure, hooks are just catchy jingles made for birds. Thats why radio commercials use them to catch the attention of the listener the cheapest and quickest way possible
