great bands real music actual structure . breh get all the way the fukk outta here with that shyt. different genres have different ways they go about making music. i dont go into another genres expecting them to have the same style as rap.

structuring music isn't specific to genre, its dependent on the talent and creativity of the individual, they're a lot of bands that follow the verse hook pattern as well, its not something specific to rap.

i know that all of that, i was just speaking in general at that point. you brought up 60s bands breh. there are plenty of rap songs nowadays that have more advanced hook structures or even no hooks at all.

I agree, i don't listen to industry rappers, most of the songs I listen to don't have hooks, maybe outside of a sample in-between verses

I think what the OP is saying is true not because hooks didn't matter till 2005 but because today the hook can and does basically trump the artists' performance. Today if you REALLY want to be THAT dude you have to be known as a hook man point blank period.
