Simple google would have saved us 8 minutes. As I expected, "test" in english comes from Latin via French, and means exactly that, determining the correctness of something ("correct" also as in what he's talking about, "do you fit"). That's also where "testify" comes from : you "attest" something, in the sense it's true, in the sense it's the correct ways events went down. And the letter itself comes from old Phenician, then moved on to semitic languages, then picked up by Latin. These languages weren't just invented for school/propaganda, they actually have a history.:francis:
