if i was a rapper of course i want to make money....but to me there's just so much excitement just from doing live shows and being in the stu making the music that you want to make. people make a big deal out of record sales these days, but that's some slave shyt. soundscan and billboard make perfectly good artists seem unworthy of the mic. at the end of the day, this shyt started out with two turntables and a microphone. this industry has taken the dream of just being heard and telling your story and perverted it into something else. even as fans, we've taken on the mentality of the greedy execs. worried about sales, co-signs, media placement and shyt that has nothing to do with the actual talent. we're started to sound like the machine....and we're really the only ones that keep the sh*t organic.
