Why waste money assessing housing when you can raise mill rates?

I would argue people have been eating off low assessments for the last couple years, the way housing prices have risen.

House the street over just closed for $170k over asking, so it will be market dependent.

Paid 200k asking last year, but it was worth it. My house is an expense, not an investment, I operate like I’m down 200k in equity and don’t believe Zillow (which says I’m up 200k from what I bought it for). In the long run (20+ years), I don’t expect to break even on my purchase price + cumulative capex.

Checked a few places on my saved list on Zillow some of them decreased in value everything else same price no budging at all... good luck trying to get a discount...
