It's a concept that I've never actually thought about before but it's definitely a real thing. Why do some people get easier access to travelling than others?
Doesn't each country determine which passports they prioritize? Which inevitably leads to poorer countries being much more lenient than richer ones for tourist dollars and other benefits.
What effect would abolishing passports have on the richer countries of the world?

Sort of. Economic and travel unions are making that more complicated (EU, Caricom). Trade agreements can mandate openness ( attitude and practice ) for inward investment mandatory.
We haven't even had widespread passports for travel for 100 years yet.
"The word passport comes from the French words "passer" (to enter or leave) and "port" (port or harbor). Before 1952, passports were optional for U.S. citizens to travel abroad and to return to the United States. By December 15, 1915, passports were recommended and all citizens leaving the U.S. should have a passport."

The youth in the video is wrong tho about access to jobs in rich markets. It's like that film In Time with the zones. If you suddenly remove the barriers between zones you disrupt lives.
I think disrupting certain lives is his goal.

I’d say it’s one of the biggest underlying reasons for migration to Western countries. You don’t get the same freedom of movement that you can get with a passport from the West.
