I've been listening to The Birthday Party lately, Nick Cave's post-punk group before the Bad Seeds. I was never able to get into the Bad Seeds (but to be fair, I never really gave them a chance) but this band here is just the right amount of unpolished, irritating and difficult for me. They rejected the goth label at the time and even made a song, "Release the Bats", that was supposed to be them making fun of the whole scene. Of course, the song became very popular among goths so.
but seriously this shyt is crazy, I had never listened to these guys before this week because my feelings towards the Bad Seeds gave me the wrong ideas. I don't think I've ever heard anything like this and the shyt Cave does with vocals is incredible.
