DETROIT (Do Every Thing Right Or It's Trouble)

Hit lists started popping up on Instagram between the Hustle Boys (42) and Seven Mile Bloods (55 Hardwork) gangs after a chance encounter in summer 2014 between rival gang members at a state parole office on Detroit’s west side.

On July 14, 2014, 23-year-old twins Michael and Martaze Davis arrived at the Lawton Parole Office for a morning meeting with a parole agent. The twins have identical convictions for armed robbery.

The Davis brothers rap together under the name 42 Twinz and have toured extensively while posting rap videos on YouTube.

The twins also belong to the Seven Mile Bloods’ rival gang, the Hustle Boys, prosecutors say.

Around 11 a.m., the twins were finished with their parole meetings. Before they left, they crossed paths with a rival, accused Seven Mile Bloods leader Billy Arnold, prosecutors say.

The Hustle Boys traveled for about four miles before approaching the intersection of Grand River Avenue and Oakman Boulevard on Detroit’s west side.

The Hustle Boys were shadowed by three cars filled with Seven Mile Bloods members.

Near Grand River and Oakman, a white Chrysler Sebring filled with Seven Mile Bloods accelerated and pulled alongside the Hustle Boys’ car.

Arnold and Bailey leaned out of the Seven Mile Bloods’ car and opened fire, prosecutors allege.

Michael Davis was shot in the chest.

More bullets struck Page in the left eye and upper body.

Page’s friends flagged down social worker Silhouette O’Neal, who was headed back to work after lunch.

They asked O’Neal for a ride to the hospital.

O’Neal was afraid and initially wouldn’t look at Page.

When she finally looked, O’Neal screamed.

“All I saw was an eyeball out of the socket,” she testified.

Page was alive, barely.

He lingered in a coma for several weeks before dying. Page was 22.

After Page was killed, Billy Arnold talked about the shooting with Derrick Kennedy, according to testimony. Kennedy pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy and testified about the conversation.

“He said he cooked ’em,” Kennedy testified. “He shot ‘em.”

Page’s killing in July 2014 forged a new alliance on the east side of Detroit.

The Hustle Boys, 6 Mile Chedda Grove, Maxout 220 gangs and others banded together to battle the historically stronger Seven Mile Bloods, prosecutors say.

After Page died, photos of 10 Seven Mile Bloods members were posted on Instagram. @all_new_victims55.

A hit list, prosecutors say.

Several photos — including pictures of accused Seven Mile Bloods leaders Corey Bailey and Billy Arnold — were posted on Instagram by someone using the name “All Head Shots.”

Months passed and Seven Mile Bloods members and associates got shot. Four died.

The Seven Mile Bloods retaliated by posting photos of 62 rivals on the gang’s Instagram page, “000_big_blood,” according to the government.

I really don't get how anyone not involved in those specific people's lives can be into their bullshyt.

Even if you have some innate desire to watch them rap about it, doesn't the knowledge of what this bullshyt does to the larger community shame you into not wanting to spread it any further than it already is?

I feel that

Sada has songs I like but I'm not a super fan

I def don't keep up with the shyt like comicbooks

That's why I judge Akademiks so hard, he wags his finger at the behavior but he loves it

And he'd be nobody without it

That's partially treat 42's music like a cigarette habit, listen in limited times and leave it alone. Don't play it in my house.

It's not really any different than Beanie Sigel, or any of those guys

if you connect with that life on some level, it's highly compelling and affirming, that's why people like it. The fantasy aspect that people listen to his music, like a Future is a different type of appeal.

but would say that 42 audience is pretty limited in terms of demographic.

Harder for me to understand why people listen to trap rap and connect to NOTHING in it

The music industry and fans keep wanting them to do music together like reality doesn’t trump entertainment.

Most people with 9-5 jobs or jobs they hate find amusement in it because instead of killing my boss for trying to write me up I can shoot them in my head with King Von tracks and go on about my day I guess

Read a good analysis of narco corrido's popularity with the working class, who aren't narcos, and like you described, it's about a feeling of being powerful

as in these guys (rappers/singers) have a power and an agency that they lack in their personal lives, as they are working 9-5 jobs
