Not my intention to make a salacious thread title nor am I wishing this upon him. I am just exploring this thought for curiosity sake. Tell me if I'm crazy or not.

He's not the athletic phenomenon that he used to be and in many ways, his basketball iq has made up for his growing physical limitations. It's been awesome to watch his career from start to near finish. Top 5 dead or alive when all is said and done. However, what goes up, must come down. Now, to my point.

Lebron has always been, far and away, the best player on every team he's ever been on. There is a possibility that could change in the future as father time is undefeated and he continues to chase titles. He's going to have to get through the Warriors and even this current incarnation of the Cavs does not leave me thinking they can put up a fight with Golden State. My question is though, does he allow it to happen. Does he, given the career arch he has had, become subservient to a talent that is greater than his? Does his ego allow for it? Does he defer to another player and become a Pippen to someone else's Jordan? Or, as I think he'll continue to do, be the best player on the team that could at least go to the Finals (in the East obviously), steal a game or two while protecting the Lebron James brand and end the run of championships at three. We talked about Melo at Syracuse, at Denver, at New York, because he was The Man. We don't talk about him at Oklahoma City because he is just A man. Do we honestly see LeBron following a similar path?

Ultimately, with his prime firmly in the rear view mirror, I see Lebron having to put pride aside to get more rings in the near future but I don't think he'll do what it takes to get to happen because his life vision goes beyond basketball and while I believe basketball is still very important to him, I think the brand goes beyond that.

Gladly taking thoughts.

:whoa:

wait, he's still more athletic than 95% of all the players in his 15th season. plus he's still able to get his head rim level. his athleticism has barely declined in all these games to be honest.

That was supposed to be Kyrie. Well known/heavily discussed.

:gucci: Literally every athlete declines and eventually retires, how was this deserving of a thread?
