How the hell did they get the bag for a big ass budget video like this in 1980? This is damn near movie quality with the LucasFilm special effects people had some extra time on their hands.

MJs vocals during this era were just pure silk, so smooth. Later it was like he added a sprinkle of grit and growl which was a dope evolution and allowed him to saturate tracks in emotion but this era here was raw uncut product. Straight no chaser.
You can spot the difference when he went from doing solo vocal lead tracks here and switched the production into complex layers instead a couple of albums later. Just the sheer level of artistry and dedication at play in this mans career/life was some Prestige level performance as he poured his soul into it all and was constantly evolving by pushing against the limits.
