the joker been a thing long before the whole "incel" phoneomenon
The Joker is a representation of the "Devil" archetype, so of course it's been a thing, even before the comics really.
But this movie, a movie that I'm excited to peep at some point is one that is being marketed on the strength of it's realism and how much of a "comic-book movie" it isn't even though it's based on a comic book character.
The director wanted to flip the comic book industry on it's head...I would say a show like The Boys does an awesome, thorough job of that without shytting on the genre or trying to get away from it's defining characteristics. Leto, Nickleson and even Ledgers versions of the joker weren't designed or marketed to be so grounded in realism that you could point and say, they'd be an incel/this or that.
