I like how everybody ignores Joel really cared about Ellie. Like You yourself wouldn't have caught feelings for a little girl trying to survive.

I like how everybody conveniently left out them having to kill Ellie and so Joel is the bad guy. The doctors could've just let her go, but nah they didn't want that.

It is messed up, but I think the point of the story is that revenge can ravage someone's mind like that. The Fireflies didn't care that Joel just helped them escape a zombie attack, they wanted him DEAD, especially Abby. A similar thing starts to happen to Ellie, but NO GAME SPOILERS, so

It is messed up, but I think the point of the story is that revenge can ravage someone's mind like that. The Fireflies didn't care that Joel just helped them escape a zombie attack, they wanted him DEAD, especially Abby. A similar thing starts to happen to Ellie, but NO GAME SPOILERS, so

Im wondering what the public reception, the people who didn't play the game, is. That would give an unbiased point of view into whether the story actually made sense. I'm willing to bet most want Abby killed.

the people i know that didn't play the game are SHOCKED they killed Joel so soon.

They thought it would be a longer chase or game of cat and mouse so the surprise element is still there.

And I bet those people want Abby killed. Can't say it's white incels now when the general populace are Team Joel and Ellie. I keep telling folks the story don't make sense and anybody talking about killing Joel don't know what they talking about. Joel didn't deserve to die. He tried to save a kid he developed kinship for.

They could have waited for Ellie to wake up. They didn't.
The doctor could have simply let Joel take Ellie and let the fire flies go after him. He didn't.

Abby killed a man who was just trying to save his own.

You’re conflating two entirely different reactions. the writing is intended to make you hate abby from the start, not throw temper tantrums online, send death threats to the developers and actors, and create some weird alt-right sub reddit dedicated to hating everything about the franchise and studio after.

I'm not even talking about the later group. Just how the story never made sense in the very beginning and you're not a white incel for thinking so. They killed a PlayStation icon and not even in a meaningful way.
