What Billy King did was amazing. He changed a bottom tier roster with a suppose superstar in Deron and a potential all star in Brook Lopez.

He traded scrubs for a 7 time All Star "Iso" Joe Johnson. Amazing. Now Joe had a really bad contract but he was traded for a bunch of terrible non NBA players. Seems like great value.

Then this off-season. He trades useless Kris H, low BBIQ fake Kobe Marshon Brooks, and terrible contract Gerald Wallace Hall of Famers like Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce as well NBA Finals star Jason Terry. Seems amazing right.

In two years he turned scrubs like Johan Petro, below average players Brooks, bad contracts like Gerald Wallace, and useless players like Farmar and Kris H. into Joe Johnson, KG, and PP who have over 25 plus All Star appearances between the three. Even signed AK47.

He has been to the Finals as a GM for the Sixers so what is wrong with him?

This:
In the Joe Johnson trade. He traded a 2013 HOU 1st which became Lucas Nogueira who is a potential good player.

Which this didn't seem like much during the season, they also gave Atlanta the rights to swap picks in 2014 and 2015. This didn't seem like a big deal at the time but I will explain later.

The Celtics deal seemed great but they traded their 1st 2014 to Boston. Then Boston gets
2016: Nets
2018: Nets

Note: The Celtics have the ability to swap spots with the Nets in 2017.

So from 2014-2018, the Nets only have 2 1sts and they swap 2017 with Boston.

Now the issue:

Brooklyn is old. They don't have any athleticism outside of Plumlee. They don't play defense well or offense. KG is done. Pierce is at the end of the road. Joe is done. Lopez is injury prone and a net negative. Terry been done. Deron has regressed greatly. The Nets are a shell of what many assumed they would be. They look like a 30-35 win team. This is an issue and there is a chance they could even get a top 5-10 pick which won't go to them and in 2015, it will only get worse so Billy King who fell like a genius in namesake might be the biggest idiot in GM history rivaling Colangelo in Toronto. Sorry Brooklyn fans, BK sucks as a GM.

As a long time NYer, I don't understand how anyone can ever, ever, feel confident about the Nets regarding making a title run. The Nets are one of those "one achievement at a time" franchises, who it seems never grow from one step to the next, save for a brief moment in their NBA history . Even that run spanning from 2001-2003 resulted in zero banners of REAL significance, and the curtain came down on that act almost as fast as it rose. They are one of those franchises that will win a playoff series, have everyone buzzing about them during the offseason where they are pegged as an "up & coming franchise," only to produce the exact same results for the next several years, or take a step back and disappear into oblivion for several years until they make it back to playoffs, win a series or lose one valiantly, only to repeat their cycle of mediocrity, which then becomes a perpetual cycle.

And no, Net fans, I'm not dissing your franchise, but as a student of history and precedent, it's alarming to see this cycle ebb and flow continually with these teams across all sports, which unfortunately your squad is a part, and in fact all 3 of the "NY -ets" are part of this paradigm. I'm a Jet & Rangers fan so believe me when I tell you I can empathize.

For another example, remember when the 1998 Arizona Cardinals beat the Cowboys in the playoffs and were a media darling pick for like the next 4 years? They wouldn't see expanded success for another 10 years with a SB berth, only to quickly fall back to their own norm. Some teams' luck just operate that way :manny:

As a Hawk fan and watching the Knicks and Nets, I can say that the Nets management has usually been superior to both the Hawks and Knicks but Billy King is horrendous. He makes Isiah Thomas look like Larry Bird in terms of GM's.
