bu-bu-but owners didn’t want to him the supermax narrative hilariously contradictive. The supermax is nothing compared to what he had and would have continued to make the franchise. Even from a base fiscal standpoint, the difference between what they’re paying AD now and what they would be paying Luka once his new contract kicked in, would be negligible.
That’s before we take into account all the loss in revenue trading Luka cost them (sponsorship deals, ticket sales, merchandise, playoff run etc), the x-amount of salary expenditure on players whom are less effective without Luka, AD sitting in street clothes instead of playing and all the other monetary folds they took for granted that Luka was the breadwinner of.
