I didn't realize Nico could make trades without permission from Adelson/Dumont.

Either the owners are extremely naive, in which case they need to sell the team to more competent people OR they wanted Luka gone but had different reasons from Nico (not wanting to pay the supermax, being less invested since the casino/arena ain't getting approved etc).

If Nico is so dumb yet was able to convince them to trade Luka, a cash cow that JUST got you to the Finals....should Mavs fans really want them owning the squad?

That's my issue. Getting rid of Nico doesn't mean shyt if the ownership is that bad. They jacked up ticket prices AFTER trading Luka and when the whole fanbase was pissed.
Was Luka really a cash cow though?

Was he a cash cow?

The only other player that generated more money over the last decade* for their respective team is Steph.

That’s what makes this stupid ass bu-bu-but owners didn’t want to him the supermax narrative hilariously contradictive. The supermax is nothing compared to what he had and would have continued to make the franchise. Even from a base fiscal standpoint, the difference between what they’re paying AD now and what they would be paying Luka once his new contract kicked in, would be negligible.

That’s before we take into account all the loss in revenue trading Luka cost them (sponsorship deals, ticket sales, merchandise, playoff run etc), the x-amount of salary expenditure on players whom are less effective without Luka, AD sitting in street clothes instead of playing and all the other monetary folds they took for granted that Luka was the breadwinner of.

for the money the mavs make on their own (like ticket sales and corporate sponsorships), yeah, they're making a significant amount less than before. like they had a 24-year streak of selling out the arena that ended this season.

i'm guessing it's a relatively small piece compared to what they get from like, the TV deal money, but definitely not nothing

that don’t sound like a cash cow. That look like a fanbase that is pissed at the organization.

like for instance if Luka got hurt for the year in a Dallas uniform and wasn’t traded. They still sell out whether he played or not.

Or maybe, just maybe, both the owners AND Nico wanted Luka gone. I don't see why it's either the owners who forced the move on Nico or vice-versa. Maybe they're all just are incompetent idiots. Nico either accepted the mission (getting rid of Luka) or it was his idea in the first place. If he didn't agree with the direction the owners were going he could've resigned. He's an employee, in light of all the bullshyt of course he was likely to get fired/moved. Players and coaches probably will be next.

The way this c00n @Gil Scott-Heroin is running through this thread slobbering over Luka (a white man so you know he loves him) is one of the most pathetic things I’ve ever seen :mjlol:

Now it’s a black man’s fault Luka is perpetually fat, out of shape and injured :bryan:

Nico was right, but even if he wasn’t, @Gil Scott-Heroin is more offended that a black man told a white man to pack his bags, more than the decision itself.

If there’s one thing @Gil Scott-Heroin will never defend, it’s a black man’s livelihood. He has yet to find a black athlete, coach, or executive that he feels shouldn’t be unemployed.

Yet, he will find every excuse for a white athlete, coach or GM to keep their job, no matter how inept they are. The brain of a self-described light skinned, dark skinned half breed cracka mutt is a strange thing to behold.

A @Squirrel from Meteor Man timeline -
Nico did the right thing. Luka got a lot of sassy energy to him :scust:
Nico knew what he was talking about :yeshrug:

The issue is he isn’t able to blow by anybody anymore and he’s only 25 years old.

Having to bang bodies in the post and hoping guys go for head fakes to get an open shot is not ideal for his age
Nico does it again
Nico did it! @Gil Scott-Heroin about to go cry in the car
Why is everyone acting like they didn’t just see Luka flame out again in the playoffs? Nico knew what he was doing
@Gil Scott-Heroin shamefully still trying to bash a black man who did his due diligence and got rid of his lazy 270 point guard (who couldn’t put two consecutive good halves of basketball together in the playoffs because he’s out of shape).

Nico won the trade :wow:
Nico was right
Nico was always right. Luka has dunked the ball 2 times in 3 years. And he’s only 26. His defense has gotten even worse. There’s no way in hell you pay some regressing that quickly $375 million a year.

His ceiling was reached when he had a true alpha scorer to carry him when it matters (Kyrie) because he will never be in shape.

He only played 3 months of basketball this year and he looked like Larry Bird on his way out of the league last night :picard:
“Luka isn’t in shape and gets fatter every year because he plays too much basketball” @Gil Scott-Heroin :bryan:

The regression can be seen in real time. Last year he was getting by Rudy and scoring on him much easier. This year he had to rely on fadeaways and long bombs. Nico was right

To now -
Nico was right, but even if he wasn’t...
This is what defeat looks look.

:wow:
