Where do u live where even a closet is $800 a month?Yup for example in a big city
small city
- $90,000 salary with $2,000 rent:
Monthly income: $90,000 ÷ 12 = $7,500
Rent-to-income ratio: $2,000 ÷ $7,500 = 26.7%
The second person is spending a slightly lower percentage of their income on rent (24% vs. 26.7%), so while the amounts are different, the affordability is pretty close.
- $40,000 salary with $800 rent:
Monthly income: $40,000 ÷ 12 = $3,333
Rent-to-income ratio: $800 ÷ $3,333 = 24%

Bootstrap Bootlicking clowns.
Not many small cities still feature $800 rent. You also are making the mistake of using gross income to make the rent-income ratio which is impractical.Yup for example in a big city

The problem is $42K isn't a livable wage in most areas. It would be "okay" if this was 98, but it's 2025 and shyts not getting any cheaper.
Plus the only way for them to get experience is to do the job, but who wants to really work their ass off for an unlivable wage?
And once again, we get to read in great detail as to why this country is free fallingso tf what. when i was in college and working drive thru at a bbq joint i wasn't expecting to buy a new car or a home.
i copped a used car and had an apartment roomate like a lot of young people do.
do you think i should have been able to do that with no real education or experience? lol

"My life was rough at a part-time job, so you shouldn't be able to live life in luxury at that stage".
That mindset might have kilt this country for good
Edit: For the record, I don’t think that people should be able to afford a brand new, top of the line vehicle on a part-time wage, but they should definitely be able to afford a new economy sedan at the lowest trim.
A house is out of their budget.
