The Modern Internet is a piece of SH*T :hhh:

The paranoia, mistrust, domination by companies that want to spy on you, the scams, the BS.

If the Internet is a mirror of modern society then it doesn't look good.

I am sick to death of being treated like a criminal every time you try to do something.

Log on to an account "captcha click test"

Log onto an account "we just sent you a text"

Log into an account "we want to send you a text message to your registeted phone that we know you have with you and want to use 24/7"

Transaction at your bank "phone 2FA or direct contact"

Try to open an account "we want to check that you are not a machine"

Log on via a VPN site doesn't work (D+), deletes cookies and pretends that you were not logged in before (D+ and others)

Google "yeah I know you wanted to see that but how about these paid links .. oh and we are recording everything including your mouse movements"

LinkedIn "upsell, upsell, upsell"

If these were people they were be described as paranoid and/or deranged.

Chapelle did his skit on the Internet and things are way worse now ...

WTF is going on and where does it end :scust:

I do not want to carry my phone around with me 24/7.

I do not want to be tested and re-tested at every turn.

I do not want to be followed around the Internet.

To much anonymity.

People can say and do what ever with no real consequences.

I think in the last decade the internet has become a vice for most people and the biggest form of escapism.

I’d say the worst thing today with the internet is click bait.

The realness of the early era before it was commercialized and put on the stroll with different goals from its inception are the same thing they did to rap and pretty much everything else. These devils only know one trick and they're super efficient at sucking the soul from anything that gets in their grip.

become a vice for most people and the biggest form of escapism.

Been saying this for a minute. Its digital heroin, binary crack rocks and people are a bunch of wasted baseheads who can't/don't want to see the true nature of the screen because they're too busy fiending. Uses the exact same Limbic System to generate the exact same addictive behavior and escapism just with a different kind of dealer who livestreams to his fiends via that little black square and all it means...

Put a heavy net user in a room, alone, with no distractions for 10 minutes and you'll see the Pookie come out of them real quick.

Don't shutdown your computer or use hibernate habitually. keep your browser open and it'll effect you less.

i've had uptimes up to 200+ days until my PC or laptops crashes.

It's a tool and it reflects our values and what we made of it. In a more enlightened world the emergence of the internet would have bridged gaps in all areas of society. We can see some of this in the developing world. For them it changed lack of access to landlines, updated school information, baking etc etc. For us it's mostly social media vanity, shopping and porn and more increasingly radicalization in fringe corners.

The internet plus mobile technology can be greatly considered responsible for boosting the schedule of advancement in the developing world.

I feel the same way about people that complain about substances like alcohol. You can paint it as the devil but in reality it is our interaction with these things that's the issue not the things themselves. Blame anything but ourselves is the game. When you take that approach you are basically saying we don't deserve our free will since we can't regulate ourselves around everything we can access, abuse and use to ruin ourselves.

I would say there is less anonymity now. There was a lot of emphasis on concealing your in real life identity when using the Internet in the 90s.

Now people are able to market themselves. You yet clout chasers, you get influences, from an advertisement point of view, users are now valued as people who can be sold a product.

i was trying to register a flat for rent on airbnb (outside of the states).

that's all i will say about that.

:hhh:
The universe might be doing you a favor. Whoever owns that Airbnb probably has hidden cameras throughout the place and jacks off while he watches customers sleep and was going to sell videos of you showering, shytting and pissing on the internet - the place you hate so much. :dame:
