This is cap. Murder rates were close to historic lows from 2016-2019. It rose somewhat in 2020 then spiked in 2021-2022, likely from a combination of the pandemic causing folk to act crazy, police not doing their jobs in protest of BLM, and police using COVID restrictions as an excuse.

Depending on who you ask. Some people live in area's thats been crime infested for decades.
And as far as it being down, tell me this.. Why are white people all of a sudden complaining about crimes in their areas that wasn't there before the pandemic? Looks like crime is just moving around.
