Went to go see her perform at Radio City Music Hall on New Years Eve.

I was expecting to hear much of her old stuff since she hasn't dropped an album in three years and this being my third time seeing her perform.

But she went a musical direction with her old stuff that completely made the shyt sound new again.

Why is that necessary in this thread? If I wanted to talk about her band, especially her bad ass sax player, I would.
Because you're speaking on Jill Scott as though she's the sole reason her old shyt sounded new at the performance. But that's not the case, at all

And you seem to be upset about band members you don't even know, nor do you even know Jill's dynamic with them.

Maybe you should go to the "band members I don't know performing with Jill Scott" show.

Upset? Because I'm correcting you? How about you accept that you're wrong instead of running behind the "oh he's upset" BS when I haven't shown the slightest hint of that.

I guarantee I have a much bigger understanding of Jill's dynamic with them than you do.. Especially considering the fact that she doesn't even play any instruments, nor does she executively produce anything. But you want to give her all the credit :heh:

Sounds straight. I like the slow version but the faster version was good, too. I haven't heard this song before.

Dog....the Grammy award winning drummer at my church plays with her. Actually gave me the low down about the dude this song is about. Much of her show performances come out of jam sessions with her band. This may be such a case. I'm giving her credit as the headliner.

I understand what you're saying, and I think you're right in this case, but you can still understand and perform musical arrangement without playing an instrument. What do you mean executively produce? That just means overseeing a project (P. Diddy is a prolific executive producer).

& I understand that .. & I'm not saying not to give Jill any credit, I'm just saying its wrong to act like she & she alone is the reason some of her old tracks sound new list

Yeah I do hate that too, when a singer gets all the credit for a band effort.

I was at that same show too.

shyt was nuts when the place was flooded with ballons while she was preforming "golden or blessed I cant remember which one...

But on a side note ... Once Luke James has a Steady catalog of bangers its a wrap. That kid impressed the shyt out of me .

Anyway Jill was dope but id still see J-davey and countless other r&b neo soul singers before her though. :manny:
