First things first:
This is easily the worst NBA Finals matchup in our lifetime. This is not hyperbole. I don't have to explain that SGA and Haliburton are not "face of the league" stars.
That this -Thunder Pacers- is the best the NBA has to offer in 2025 says everything about how much the league is in trouble.
But the REAL big problem: of the big stars.. nobody is the face of the league actually. At bare minimum you have to have to drive to win a chip.
The "face' LeBron does not care if he wins a chip. He sold a barbie doll during the Playoffs. He did a podcast during the NBA Finals.
LeBron
is drinking wine and doing podcasts with a white dude and couldn't care less if he wins another chip for my Lakers, he's statpaddng and doing side projects.
Luka
great scorer - needs to get out of his own way with the refs and play better not just say "I need to play better that's on me".
KD:
DONE. Should focus on tweeting back at fans full-time. The asterisk championships/MVPs in the Bay is one thing, but failing on the Nets and Suns is a legacy killer.
Kyrie:
still a great player but with the Luka trade and the clown running things there, the chance of a chip nears 0.
PG-13:
doesn't even deserve a mention. Chose the money and became irrelevant.
Kawhi:
if not injury prone, a real challenger to the throne stats wise. However: 0.0 personality for fans to be drawn to.
Embiid:
DONE. I can't imagine why anyone would ever like him as a person, but he could ball. That's over now.
Dame Time:
Shouldn't be on this list respectfully. There's always a reason for the poor play when it matters, but he's not going to carry the league.
Wembayana: sure he's good, but because of the low quality team he is on he doesn't get the shine (tv time) required to be the face of the league.
Anthony Edwards: let's check back in in 2-3 years. Big bully vs a beat up old Lebron, disappears after talking all that tough shyt... against OKC
The Greek Freak (o.g. Ant on the Bucks but @FlyRy told me nobody calls him Ant, I’m not going to talk to my friends describing a dude as freak anything, ANTetonkounmpo works): will never win it again with the Bucks. He's obviously a superstar but terrible row of seasons kills "face of the legue" talk
