anyone can review hip-hop, you are at least entitled to that. i want every fan to feel like they are able to voice their opinion on music that they listen to, but something just is off about this man on the needle drop
i could be wrong, but he reviews more 'in the limelight' hip hop cause hip hop has gotten so especially popular on the internet and it gets traffic, and when you have such a reach i think he lacks the responsibility to review a genre like this accurately for others also unfamiliar with hip hop. i get he tries to do his research and shyt, but i don't know if he ever connects to hip hop, or the feeling, or the emotion that we all have for this shyt.
i'm absolutely projecting, but fukk his whole style. like a breh like narduwar tho, you can tell he really love the shyt he do, researching artists and their histories and how its shaped their coming into hip hop. you don't have to grow up a certain way or some shyt, but i think you really have to grow up listening to hip hop heavy from a young/pre-teen age to get it. i think a lot of what he praises comes from just being familiar with the general reception to certain artists and albums in the canon, and then making a judgment. but to each their own
i didn't even watch this video, this is just what i think of the needle drop in a nutshell. this guy could be the coolest motherfukker in real life, i don't even know
