Abandoning our own leagues to join the MLB and the NBA was one of the most foolish economic and cultural decisions black people have ever made. Basketball and Baseball are billion dollar industries now and we would have been the main people capitalizing on this industry.
I guess our ancestors didn't think of the possibility of a Michael Jordan, a Kobe Bryant, or a Lebron James coming through and crushing the buildings like they did. So we abandoned our own league and forced black team owners like Octavius Catto to dissolve their teams.
If black people had stayed faithful to the negro basketball league there would be no NBA and i could say that with 100% certainty because WE ARE THE NBA now. You think people would pay money to watch a bunch of Dirk Nowitzkis when they could go to the negro League and watch Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, etc. The NBA at this point would not be able to compete in sales against a league of superior athletes like the negro league would have today.
There would probably still be an MLB but who knows what kind of talented black people we could have discovered if we still had our own baseball league.
