Vampire Weekend;
more than a decade later and without Rostam their new album dropped last week.

i always liked them and appreciated Ezra was in on the joke and leaned into them being these privileged kids.
i really did think their last album was really going to be their last. it felt like that and was Ezra's goodbye to NY.

its a pleasant enough album with some great songs but its missing a certain energy of earlier albums.
the highlights for me are

it has some nostalgic moments.
Rich Man is perfect indie movie music/Gossip Girl scene segueing music.

others i like..

i kind of feel the same way with this album as i did that last Arctic Monkeys album.
that its basically the frontmans solo albums presented as group albums.

the choice of having Danielle Haim all over the album and the Steve Lacy contributing were smart choices though.

as far as Mac DeMarco's new album
it felt quite phoned in and felt quite lazy to me. some nice moments though.

I love the new Vampire. Saw them live back in June and they put on a GREAT show

Highlights:

How Long
Sympathy
This Life
Bambina
Unbearbly White
Jerusalem, NY, Berlin

Mac has lost his luster IMO, his last couple efforts were not great
