The Wilpons aren't going to get more than Cohen is willing to pay. This is probably him playing hardball and I can see him breaking the NDA should the deal officially be dead.

I heard a financial reporter who covers these hedge fund dudes on WFAN with Evan and Kim Jones; he basically said that the Wilpons was tryna put the screws to Cohen and he wasn't having it. He did say that perhaps MLB comes in and tells the Wilpons that they need to make the deal, when the other owners see how much they got for the Mets, the value of all the other franchises goes up.
