It's that time of year again. 2015 is wrapping up and it doesn't look as though we'll be getting any other big releases in the next few weeks. I always look forward to seeing everybody's year-end lists, so I figured I would make a thread to have them all in one place. Feel free to share your favorite albums and/or songs that have dropped this year. I still gotta put my list together.

@Adam3000 got us started here.

Currents(Tame Impala) is my AOTY

the replay value is insane with it, has some great stand alone tracks(Let it Happen is my track of the year), still listening heavy nearly daily

I really didnt think I would dive into what is essentially a poppy(obviously not full on pop, but you get the point), break up album, but he got me again :manny:

Kevin Parker might just be the most talented musician doing it right now, cant wait to see whats next

Adam3000's Best Of 2015

Drum roll please......:popcorn3:

Album Of The Year

514g9Rm-aTL._AA160_.jpg

Sufjan Stevens "Carrie & Lowell"

--I hesitate to crown an album that requires a specific mood and setting to enjoy maximally. But this album is 43 minutes of the most gut-wrenching and beautiful melody and lyrics that I have heard in years. It was a close battle with the runner-up, but Sufjan takes it with what is by far the best album of his acclaimed career.

Album Of The Year Runner-Up

Tame Impala "Currents"

--Kevin Parker is the best musician in the world. And it isn't even close. Following up the greatest album of the 2010's is a monumental task, and although he obviously couldn't be expected to repeat he gave his best effort. Pure pop bliss. Crisp engineering. Incredible drums. Catchy melodies. Replay value. And a handful of the best songs of the year.

Rounding Out The Top 5

511ZdafIAjL._AA160_.jpg

Bjork "Vulnicura"
--Bjork pouring her heart out over stuttering Arca beats? A match made in heaven

41L2PMRIbAL._AA160_.jpg

Jamie XX "In Colour"
--The second half of this album is insane. This was so close to being an instant classic, and instead it will have to settle on being just a future classic:hula:

Joanna Newsom "Divers"
--Yet another critically acclaimed artist who may have dropped the best album of their career. At the very least, its the most accessible. Typical stellar lyricism, but much more muscially to-the-point than her past albums.

Other Albums I Enjoyed
8.5 or above
Arca "Mutant"
Empress Of "Me"
Julia Holter "Have You In My Wilderness"
FKA Twigs "M3LL155X"
Alabama Shakes "Sound And Color"
Tobias Jesso Jr. "Goon"
Matthew E. White "Fresh Blood"
Natalie Prass "Natalie Prass"
Viet Cong "Viet Cong"

8.0 or above
Floating Points "Elaenia"
Autre Ne Veut "Age of Transparency"
Neon Indian "Vega INTL. Night School"
Deerhunter "Fading Frontier"
Youth Lagoon "Savage Hills Ballroom"
Deafheaven "New Bermuda"
Oneohtrix Point Never "Garden Of Delete"
Ought "Sun Coming Down"
Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment "Surf"
Beach House "Depression Cherry"
Kendrick Lamar "To Pimp A Butterfly"
Miguel "Wildheart"
Petite Noir "The King Of Anxiety"
Lower Dens "Escape From Evil"
Colin Stetson & Sara Neufeld "Never Were The Way She Was"
Waxahatchee "Ivy Tripp"
Courtney Barnett "Sometimes I Sit And Think..."

Sleater Kinney "No Cities To Love"

________________________________

Song Of The Year

Jamie xx ft. Romy "Loud Places"

--If only the last XX album could have been 10% as good as this I might have taken it seriously. No better moment in 2015 than the bridge in the middle...."higher, I'll take you higher....".

Song Of The Year Runner-Up

Kendrick Lamar "Alright"
