I agree. And any time these discussions come up no one can ever give a legitimate answer as to who Arsenal should bring in as manager right now.
Same with the striker discussion. Everyone is mad that Arsenal didn’t bring in a striker in January, however, none of them can provide the name for this mythical striker that would have come in and taken Arsenal to the league title this season. They just want to see a name come in. Anyone. Even if it means crippling transfer plans for the next few windows.

universal rule: it is not the fans' job to name replacement players (or managers). the club pays staff millions a year whose job it is to watch games all over the world to find these players (and to watch managers). that is how managers like slot, iraola get found. how players like salah get brought back to the league when no fans would have suggested it. chicarito costing peanuts. do you have the resources to watch 100's of matches a month and track hundreds of players? not likely. clubs do. they should be able to find players that you cannot.
TL;DR it's not 'mythical' because (part-time) fans cannot name them. the mythical part might be any player guaranteeing a league win. even mbappe couldn't do that.

Good point and I agree. But not sure it addressed the point I was making.
I am specifically speaking about the fans, that don’t know as much as they think they do, crying and complaining that “if we signed X player we would have won the game/league!” Let’s not act like you don’t see statements like this on this board, across social media and on fan channels on a regular basis. Fans think they know it all.
I am pretty sure Arsenal didn’t sit there with a list of top strikers/goal scorers that were 1) available and 2) affordable and simply say “nah fukk it. Let’s just play Merino as a false 9 and see where that gets us.”
