The thing is the books in french take some time to be released (translation and all) and it goes up to three year after the OG release. Books are so dense I can understand that it takes time for the translation to be perfect (and the OG french translator changed between book 3 and 4 IIRC) and therefore for the book to be released. And for the readers to avoid waiting years, the editor divides the book in 3 so the first third is out within a year. It goes like this usually :
Y - Book in English is released
Y + 1 - First third in french is out
Y + 2 - Second third in french is out
Y + 3 - Release of the final third in french
I think I stopped the french versions at book 10 and therefore switched to book 4 in English at the time asap. IIRC I read book 1 to 9 (in french) in a couple of months because it was that good (and I'm a fan of Heroic/Medieval fantasy books) so there was no way I was gonna wait 3 years to get my crack. Therefore I switched to the books in English (had to buy the first 3 OG books in English and re read them so I can get the names and the places right).
