It wouldn't matter if Kante played there. The CB's play out from the back and play a high line with both FB's push on high. Kante doesn't have the passing range to consistently beat the press or to initiate the tempo, to do the role with the way Chelsea want to play. If the they were a defensive team and played a low block then yeah, but they aren't.
