Does Amorim need to change/adapt his set up? How common is the 3421 in Portugal? I know for years that Benfica and Porto have generally been 442/4231. Due to Conte using it everyone knows how to play against it now in the Prem. Obviously Amorim had a good record in Europe but you could argue that it was system that was built over a 4 year period and had the personnel moulded knowing how to execute it properly.

Klopp and Pep adapted and played multiple different set ups even before getting to Citeh and Pool. Even a terrorist like Conte played 424 433 before settling on 352 at Juve and then adapted to 343 at Chelsea. Amorim is just known for 343/3421. And tbh I'm not even talking about moving from a 3 to a 4. It's more about adapting to your personnel when you don't have the types that you need. Put an extra man in midfield as it's a lot of work for your midfield in a 2. Get defensive stability first and then adapt and evolve from there.
