I just gave myself a headache thinking about the things Arsene could have done differently with this team. It all comes down to rotating players and actually using wingers to do winger things... Like advance the ball up the pitch. The fullbacks have way too much responsibility on this team. Ozil/Santi/Tomas should be rotating at the 10. Stop buying young wingers if you're not going to use them, or plug them in at CM.

I'm already ready for the bullshyt this summer. The lack of buying, blaming the World Cup and today's market. Players dropping like flies and the team falling to pieces at the time they need to hold together the most. I was going to make a post last week about how Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham are basically the same team 3x over and the difference is that Spurs have no leader, Wenger seethes internally, and Chairman Mou actually does something about his problems instead of calling them accidents.

Only thing i'd add is, a proper manager finds a way to incorporate Santi and Ozil in the first 11. You dont leave quality like that on your bench. The way to accomplish that though, is you give your team the proper backbone so those kind of players have the ability to express themselves freely. Look in the league, Chelsea is able to put Oscar, Hazard, and Willian in their lineups without missing a beat. Santi Cazorla is not a worse player, or significantly slower player than Willian. Yet Willian pops up all over the pitch and is willing to make those forward runs and support his fullback because he has confidence that his back 4 and holding midfield won't do stupid shyt to cause chances. I feel dirty for comparing us to Chelsea but its clear as day our issues are in the central midfield. A Gilberto Silva type player gives a manger so much tactical flexibility.

EDIT: oh ya...i forgot to mention we are playing a tree up front

I halfheartedly made the comparison between Arsenal and Chelsea so I guess that discussion is now open. And you're correct, the black hole that has become midfield is fukking up a lot of things currently. Flamini has been forced into attack mode because Arteta can't do it. In a three man midfield Arteta would be just fine as a passing metronome and maintaining possession but the lack of pace on the wings requires a box to box guy to make runs to create and exploit space. (Probably the real reason why Ox ended up playing there after Wheelchair and Ramsey went down.)

You know what's funny? All of this talk and no discussion about the weekend at Wembley. Ox and Rosicky are out so who the fukk plays on the wings now?
