Yep, sensationalist is the perfect word. They were using him as some sort of scapegoat even though he played well in the friendlies leading up to the tournament. You can have a good game as a striker and not score goals. But not in these commentators minds.

My thoughts....
It was a decent game... nothing spectacular... We would be better if the entire team was more proficient with their passing. A lot of chances wasted. You won't get that many opportunities in Brazil to make a play. This is were Donovan is missed. I don't like Besler on the back line. He plays too nervous and never seems to quite shake the jitters off. I would rather see Brooks instead. Gonzalez is what he is and what we already knew. The stage is too big for Zusi and Bedoya.
Other than the penalty, it was a solid defensive game.
