The first season is seriously up there for best show of all-time to me. I am in LOVE with this series and Soderbergh and Clive Owen have been a marvelous combination. The camera work and soundtrack are 10/10. The camera work is BY FAR the best in television history imo. I am really excited for this season.

Whenever I tell anyone about this show as soon as I say "it's on cinemax..." everyone hits you with the ":beli:" face

How is Clive Owen and Soderbergh not a big enough draw to be on HBO? Soderbergh did Behind the Candelabra for HBO

They needed something dope to build their brand

But where HBO failed is that HBOgo is on every device known to man and maxgo really sucks(no roku or chromecast support)

Soderbergh specifically requested the show be aired on Cinemax. He didn't want to get bogged down in HBO's development world. shyt takes years to move at HBO unless it has HUGE ATTACHMENTS like SCORCESE (Boardwalk Empire and now VINYL) etc. Even then it still takes time with other projects. And sometimes the projects still get passed on and never air.

Soderbergh also liked the idea of launching a network like Cinemax in a major way.

Yeah, That makes sense. I honestly don't care, but whenever trying to sell the show to other people it affects their perceptions because all they know is basically garbage from cinemax. And most people aren't film savvy enough to know soderbergh or to particularly like Clive Owen, either way I'm going to watch it and consume it. I would just like them to be rewarded for excellent work.
