The only way drake can come back from this is accepting defeat, giving kung fu his props, and saluting for the love of hip hop and hoping Kenny spares him and they make a track or album together.. if not, Drake has officially been Ja ruled.
I think its safe to say Kendrick will under NO CIRCUMSTANCES ever be doing a song with Aubrey Graham. People will point to Nas and Jay-Z making peace after all of the mudslinging but the truth of the matter is that Nas never hated Jay, he was apathetic towards him, perhaps dismissive of him, but for Nas, if you weren’t one of his day 1’s or just a supremely gifted MC on his level (Biggie) you just didn’t exist to him. Jay was a fan of Nas, a HUGE fan. So even with the Carmen situation its not like peace or common ground couldn’t be found because Nas wasn’t even with Carmen during the time she was messing with Jay.
With Drake and Kendrick, Drake was never a big fan of his, mostly because Drake and Kendrick are from two different worlds. Drake never grew up experiencing a TENTH of what Kendrick did as a black American male and it shows with every passing day. And it doesn’t even have to be about the “struggle” of being black in American. It has to do with the lack of comprehension of the culture. Proximity to the culture. Relationship with the culture. Drake grew up surrounded by white people, raised by a white mother, with his father more than likely only passing tidbits of the culture onto him (mostly through music) So no, an album like Good Kid M A A D Citu would’t resonate with Drake. To Pimp A Butterfly wouldn’t resonate with Drake. Hell the art of WRITING doesn’t even resonate with Drake. Drake’s racially ambiguous identity has allowed him to be the Talented Mr. Ripley and take on multiple personas, all while building an army of writers and producers who could reshape his narrative from era to era. Drake doesn’t know what it means to “Do for self” and THATS what Kendrick despises most about him. Drake would rather make fun of the American institution of SLAVERY and jokingly wear BLACK FACE than actually take the time to both understand and immerse himself in black American culture because its nothing more than cosplay for him. Look at how he treats every black American person who comes into his orbit. Lil Wayne gave him the ultimate co-sign that helped launch his career and he turned around and fukked Wayne’s girl while Wayne was in PRISON. He fukked Drama’s girl. He mocked Meek’s prison sentence. He took Kendrick on tour only because it was all but assured Kendrick was going to be a force to be reckoned with. Same thing for Asap. He hopped on a Future song ONLY after it became a hit and then refused to do the video, only to come back around doing an album with the man after he became a superstar. Drake has been a back-stabbing opportunist since the moment he dropped Thank Me Later.
Nas and Jay both came from rough areas in THE roughest era for young black men (in modern day history) so even with animosity between them, they could understand one another. Kendrick and Drake will NEVER understand one another, and thats why at best the most we could ever hope for regarding those two in the future is a cold war where subs are thrown every so often.
