Like in some countries including the U.S. the wife typically knows or assumes the husband has a side piece. In Haiti for example people refer to wives as "madanm' " which is your wife and "madanm' mariye" which is your LEGAL wife aka the one you are actually married to. But both are your wives. You take care of both. Both take care of you
My sister's god-father (R.I.P. uncle Wilfrid) had a whole other family in the southern region of the country. His "marriage wife" lived in the city with his 2 children but dude had another chick with 2 other kids in the Cayes area. Im sure he had other side pieces here and there too knowing him. But the 2 main women knew of each other tho i doubt they never met. Both families taken care of and both know their roles.
When i lived in COsta Rica my ex-girl's dad had a similar situation according to her. Tho the other woman didnt have any children, she was technically his wife and referred to as such by neighbors (mrs such and such) and he was expected to fulfill any husband duties required even though his marriage wife lived in San Jose with my ex while his side wife lived in a region called Limon northeast of the capital. Both wife and side woman knew of each other tho
