Why are they in a nursing home then?

When my grandmother got dementia my grandfather did everything possible to take care of her at home, with a lot of help from one of my aunties. It worked for about 7-8 years while the dementia was less severe, but eventually it got to the point where she was doing things like refusing to take her meds or falling and hurting herself and at his age he just couldn't do it alone anymore and needed institutional help. For the first three years at least he was in there with her 8 hours a day every day no matter what other work the nursing home folk did for her, even though she had trouble recognizing him a lot of the time. Over time we helped to wean him down to just a couple hours in the morning and evening for his own mental health, but he always spent every day with her.

A lot of the GMB idiots have no plan for the 2nd half of their lives. They have no clue what kind of commitment and devotion couples build together over time. They're going to die alone being cared for by strangers who don't love them and it's going to be really fukking sad....especially because they'll have spent most of the 40-50 years before that moment feeling quite alone already.

I swear y’all nikkas retarded as fukk. Do you have ANY life experience at all my dude? You realize some people don’t have a choice

Hmm why would an elderly sick person need to be in a NURSING home. Let that simmer
The premise of the thread is having a wife is great because someone can look after you. If youre in a nursing home you already have someone doing that job. The wife's role is redundant

:dahell:No, the premise of the thread is that it’s nice to have someone who genuinely loves and cares for you.

Sorry to hear about your family. But there are people in nursing homes being taken care of without a spouse and they're absolutely fine.

And you make the assumption that everyone desires to be loved by a spouse in old age. Many simply don't care. Why can't y'all understand that. Stop projecting your fears on others.
