The year 3030

Friend of the show, Legendary Producer and Former Phone-A-Friend guest, Just Blaze makes his way to the show for an actual sit-down with the dynamic duo.

The trio digs into the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Just Blaze responds to irresponsible comments made by Wendy Williams. He also explains the difficulties celebrity face when expressing their opinions on sensitive matters and tells his recent story of racial profiling.

Premium & Miss Lissa deliver their commentary on the vh1 Hip Hop Honors and Just Blaze divulges some highly entertaining stories.

This one should be good. His call in on the first Ep was nice.

Dope guest spot.

And he'll continue to get better guests as time goes on. He's way more likable than CJ was, I think. Way more of a natural disposition. After John Forte did the CJS, he was online saying "I fukks with Pete." And he kinda seemed annoyed with CJ during that episode at times. I liked how Combat pushed to know the history of certain MC careers, he's older, so he can speak to stuff from back in the day. But on a personal level he lacks what I think Pete brings out of guests. Just that everyday funny and chill vibe that really makes Hip Hop podcasts work.

I love what @CombatJack does for the culture, he has the best guests and they seem to open up with him far more than with other interviewers but his personality traits (being both a control freak AND aggressive) create combustion. Shout out to Pete cuz truth be told moreso than any other co-host on CJ, Pete was the best at coexisting with Combat and balancing him out. I do however believe Combat is misunderstood and his "flaws" actually come from a good place and he's got a good heart. I'd love to sit down with this dude before he burns the wrong bridge.

i dunno if i even wanna give this one a try. just blaze is a terrible interviewee IMO. he's too nasal with the voice, and he just be blabbering about shyt...not finishing thoughts, trying to sound deep, taking too long to finish a point, etc.

I appreciate the platform, and the CJS was definitely my favorite podcast at one point. Easily in 2014. And I don't really listen to a lot of podcasts.

But there's something missing with him. People hate on Rosenberg, and he gets annoying, but what I like about what he did on Juan Ep, was that he actually listened to the music. He knew the history. He could sit with a Buckwild or Lord Digga and speak to the underground records they did, crack jokes, ask about BTS stuff, and still interview. It seems like CJ researches stuff that everyday Hip Hop heads know about. Almost like he's kinda out of touch a little bit. What he does that I always dug, was get political guests or guests like The Central Park Five. People don't really think to make those moves. I think that's when the show was at its best. Or like a Chuck D or an Ice-T. He's great with legends like that, but then he'll throw a chick from a VH1 reality show on the following week. LOL!!

It's just better to me, when you're actually a fan of the people you have on. Compare how CJ interviewed Lord Finesse and how Cipha and Rosenberg did. It just feels different when someone's actually followed your career. I just peeped this Day 1 Radio interview with Diamond D the other day. Those dudes were actual fans, so the sit-down flows in a way that just seems more natural than an interview. That's what I think the CJS is missing.

Yeah, agree w/ what you said 100%

You can tell when these podcasts are actual fans of their guest or when they're going through the motions.

@Awesome Wells funny you mention the guests like The Central Park Five..
thinking about it for me the best episodes from Combat this year have been Michael Dowd and Peter Shue ones.

as much as Pete is a bit of a rambler and repetitive in what talks about i like his choice of guests so far.
a variety of New Yorkers who are coming in up in their own lane as well as friends he's made through CJ.

Word. That's where the CSJ is at its strongest.

He drops the ball when he gets MC's on there. A lot. He got Monch on there and they spoke about health insurance for like 30 mins it seemed. LOL!! The Jadakiss episode was the one when I kinda gave up. He asked him about the album cover and the bust, and built on that for way too long. These guys have stories, they're Hip Hop greats. Get into the history a little. Ask about how their groups came to be. Anything. Nobody wants to hear about whether Monch has health insurance or about how Jada has struggles with not eating meat.

Absolutely correct. His "artist" interviews seem to struggle if its not an old school rapper from NYC, lol. For example, he'll quickly admit that he knows nothing about southern music, and that he's biased against West coast music as well. The Scarface interview was almost cringe worthy at times because he didn't know what the people wanted to hear. Also, if it weren't for Pete + Gumball discussion the Bun B interviews would have gone straight to hell. However the Corey Pegues, Central Park 5, Jessica Rosenblum, Peter Shue and interviews like that are PURE GOLD.
