I appreciate the platform, and the CJS was definitely my favorite podcast at one point. Easily in 2014. And I don't really listen to a lot of podcasts.
But there's something missing with him. People hate on Rosenberg, and he gets annoying, but what I like about what he did on Juan Ep, was that he actually listened to the music. He knew the history. He could sit with a Buckwild or Lord Digga and speak to the underground records they did, crack jokes, ask about BTS stuff, and still interview. It seems like CJ researches stuff that everyday Hip Hop heads know about. Almost like he's kinda out of touch a little bit. What he does that I always dug, was get political guests or guests like The Central Park Five. People don't really think to make those moves. I think that's when the show was at its best. Or like a Chuck D or an Ice-T. He's great with legends like that, but then he'll throw a chick from a VH1 reality show on the following week. LOL!!
It's just better to me, when you're actually a fan of the people you have on. Compare how CJ interviewed Lord Finesse and how Cipha and Rosenberg did. It just feels different when someone's actually followed your career. I just peeped this Day 1 Radio interview with Diamond D the other day. Those dudes were actual fans, so the sit-down flows in a way that just seems more natural than an interview. That's what I think the CJS is missing.
