The problem is the bland bullshyt that gets pushed on macro level. you could argue there is more rebellious hip hop being made today than ever before, just rarely gets the exposure.

I couldn't say if this is because people's tastes actually run towards repetitive turn up music or if it has saturated the industry to the point where anything outside of the norm seems odd.

Artists like Vince staples have dropped heat like summertime 06 this year, I'd say that album was aggressive, rebellious and had a message but the only song on there that got any sort of play at all had a future feature

Less money is made from physical sales nowadays, and the shift is to radio and Pop in general. So, the push to cross over is even more.
The core hip hop fans are going to have to go back to the basement, and hopefully the cream will rise to the top, and when they get there, maintain integrity for the artform.

Hip Hop needs SOUL!!! You can't be aggressive if you have no soul.. You can't feel pain if you have no soul...Can't even dance if you ain't got soul. All you have is a game full of shook dudes afraid to speak on anything. I can't relate to these homo drug rappers. I enjoy a lot of it, but it doesn't give me the feeling that listening to vintage Jay-Z or DMX gives
