Actual music is dead. When the band's left so did the groove. Put it on the oldies stations, those songs are hits just based off the instrumental. You can't play an instrumental today and dance to it, the music is nothing but some weak ass chords over trap drums with some non-singing "model" someone fukking sounding like a doped out ghost. At least Amerie tried to sing, I don't know what these women today are doing.

I love Amerie. This still sounds fresh.

Yea I generally don't participate in these discussions because I love a lot of current music. It's other people's problem, not mine

I used to get into heated arguments online when I use to post on other messageboards many years ago.

I am a retired music snob and been one for years.

There is one lesson everyone on this board will eventually learn one day. At some point in life, people gonna stop giving a damn about other people's preferences and stay in their individual lane.

They gonna eventually learn to build and fellowship with like minded people and leave everyone else alone. It happened to me and I am glad that it did!

Also, people gonna realize that no matter how hard they ride for their favorite artist, group or genre of music, that they aren't gonna get shyt from said artists, groups and genres other than what they already got which is a tune or sound that they enjoy. That's it!

These musicians and artists will get their support whether it be from you, me or somebody else. Also, people on this board come from a variety of demographics and generations.

Therefore..

I don't expect someone half my age to 5-10/years my junior to like what I like. I don't expect someone from another part of the country, let alone the globe, to like what I like either.

Music is personal to people.

The thread isnt really about dissing peoples preference. The thread is acknowledging the fact that the rhythm and groove has mostly disappeared in R&B music.

No doubt. I'm 37 so folks my age always give me the :childplease: when I talk about how much I like current music. My ears seem to evolve every few years but I realize that isn't the case for a lot of people.
Just thought I'd drop a few joints that have moved me recently

it’s a lot of reasons why uptempo r&b is non existent but imo, people got on that “too cool to dance” at the party type shyt.

now it’s on some looky loo shyt, nikkas posing and trying to be all cool instead of dancing and having fun. it wasn’t no thing to leave the party sweaty from dancing all night lol

as an artist, why even make those type of jams if everybody is just standing around looking at their phones all night?

nikkas used to leave the party with a patrick ewing sweat back in the day :ahh:

No one has vocals that stand out

chris brown is a good entertainer, same with Beyoncé

but in terms of a R Kelly type of voice or a Mariah Carey/Whitney Houston naw….

and right now WHITE record executives all want the same type of artist

Its folks out there that can sing. They just arent trying to make a career out of it. If I could sing I would at least apply it to a side hustle, talents have to be used, otherwise its a waste.

You will find more peace & tranquility by building and fellowshipping with people who share common interests as yourself.

I am not into mainstream music @ all! Never have and never will!!

But, that's me! I prefer to support independent artists because as far as I am concerned they are more talented.

Those who like mainstream music may feel the same way as me about whatever and/or whoever they like.

So, at the end of the day, who is right? Me or other people?

I say everyone is right because everyone's ear is set to whatever sound captivates their soul & spirit which is what music supposed to do anyways.

a lot of the dudes sound like high pitched girls.

and from what i hear, alot of these singers nowadays try to show off and do runs too much instead of finding a groove or singing a simple melody well.

No argument here. That's one of the great things about music. Everybody hears it differently

I was never a R&B person, but now I know why:ohhh: Who wants to listen to that sad sappy shyt on a nice Summer day?:dahell:
