When Stone Cold told Dean on that podcast to "push the envelope", he wasn't just telling Dean to try edgier stuff or go out and flirt with the confines of the PG rating. The problem with Dean is that he's gotten so complacent and lazy with his stuff, both on the mic and in the ring, that it's disillusioned a lot of people with him as a performer and character. Guys like Reigns, Rollins, Bray, New Day, Sasha, and Charlotte are hungry and putting it all out there every night, and really trying and sometimes experimenting in the ring and on promos. Dean meanwhile is going through the motions most of the time and never venturing out of his comfort zone. When Austin told him to "push the envelope" he was telling Dean to rev up his gear because we all know Dean's potential but we see him coasting it every night. His horrid offense and unstructured promos is indicative of someone who never gives a fukk, which is not good

I would say Dean fell off towards the middle of the Shield run. He used to sell really well, he used to employ facial expressions and quirky movements that made him intriguing, he used to be so ill with the promos and had a scrappy moveset that looked good. Dean's probably one of the rarest gems you'll find in the industry today but the combination of a PG family friendly product + his complacency at the top is curtailing that potential. Right now, Dean's a fine talent. But he was once seen as Piper/Snake/Austin/Pillman reincarnate and it sucks to see him not live up to that

One thing I'll say about Dean though is that he's still got that organic and genuine feel about himself on TV that nobody except maybe Enzo & Cass have on the roster right now, which is the reason why fans love him and he's a top guy. And I also feel like he's holding back on stuff because he's a face and his best stuff comes out when he's a heel, but that's still not an excuse for his slack.

those network podcasts are wwe approved works.

idk why people pay attention to them at this point.
Nah...Austin be catching people off guard...it's legit in that regard. He gets him up on twitter, emails, and phone calls to bring up certain type of subjects and he does it. He brought up Chyna to Cripple H and Levasque became the world's #1 stutterer in record time right before your eyes:laugh:

fair point :patrice:

besides that one and the vince one i still feel like the majority are dull interviews compared to some of the ones he has had on the regular podcast that weren't on the network.

Yeah but that can still indicate WWE feels the same way about him getting lazy and told Steve to really push him on the podcast.

It's actually the contrary. Dean was never impressive to me. Not during the Shield run and certainly not after the break up. I thought he was an unathletic, sloppy wrestler with a weak move set. I also thought he was overrated on the mic and never really proved why he was held in such high regard.

My perception of his ring skills remain largely unchanged but ever since he's won the title I've come around on him. He probably had the promo of the year on Smackdown this past week and he was the first wrestler on Austin's show that really had an aura that wasn't overshadowed by Austin's presence.
