Inside the Highly Scrutinized NBA Head Coaching Hires in Portland, Dallas

Hammon impressed Portland officials and was generally liked among Blazers staffers, sources said. But when Portland reached out for intel from San Antonio figures, the background on Hammon was not nearly as complimentary pertaining to various aspects of day-to-day coaching responsibilities. That sentiment has been echoed by sources around the league. Blazers personnel then cast doubt that Hammon was the candidate to steer the ship through such delicate waters with Lillard.

I’m not against her getting a job because she is a woman

but I’m not for her getting a job just cause she a woman

she been an assistant for several years I couldn’t see why she wouldn’t be qualified for interviews at the very least, it’s up to that team to determine if she is qualified or not

Candace Parker said some real shyt on 2k

she said we ain’t asking y’all to not hire men, just give us a chance if we qualified too

Like I said in another thread.... unless SA is trying to keep her in house for themselves, she either needs to throw deuces or the Spurs need to give her more responsibility/a promotion. The way the article/opening post made it sound, the only thing that kept Becky from getting the Portland job was that her current employer heaux'd her on the reference check.

Which makes you wonder... if the Spurs feel like she doesn't quite have certain aspects of coaching down pat, then why do they employ her in a coaching position? That doesn't seem like how the Spurs operate.

Somebody is lying.

She’s qualified. And for optics sake one of these teams is going to have to hire her or pops may need to say he’s retiring and she’s replacing him.

And she'll get a coaching job when the right team wants her and that's how it should be. People are going to scare teams away from wanting to hire her out of the fear and pushback for if she gets fired.

I wish the Kings would have fired Luke Walton, her coaching the Kings would be an easy test case for whether she is good/players will listen to her.

They have a decent roster that has underachieved partially due to Walton being trash imo. If she stepped in and they were no better/worse, you’d have an easy answer to if she can coach in the league imo.

I'll be that person since everyone else seems to be skating around it. Why does she deserve a shot over many of the other assistants/former coaches? Not saying she doesn't but you guys are acting like she's been coaching for 10+ years and has helped build successful teams. Once again not saying she doesn't deserve a shot I'm just curious why everyone is so convinced that she should get one:gucci:
