Rice absolutely was not washed up but he was in the fourth quarter. The Shaq stimulus package helped a lot and he was a BIG Part of their reign of terror. he was like 75% of the player he was but could do more than he did and stepped back per his role.

His contributions were greater than derek fishers entire career in la, and bigger than artests

He should have been the original Miami Ray Allen. :snoop:

I was shocked at how poorly he played for the Lakers. He shot 42%, 47% (lead the league) and 43% from three his last three years with Charlotte. That was as their first option. Then he got to LA where nobody was paying attention to him and it went from 39% to 37% and he was constantly bricking wide open ones. I thought he was gonna shoot 50% from deep with all the wide open looks he was going to (and did) get. :mindblown:
:francis: Traded Eddie Jones for him too. I know they had to pay Kobe, but in hindsight it was a bad move trading Eddie for Rice, even though Lakers still got the 3-peat. I know Eddie was known as a playoff choker with the Lakers and Shaq didn't really like him because he thought that he was scared & afraid when the going got tough come playoff time, but he would have been perfect in the triangle & with Phil as coach too. Still mad he never got a ring, along with Van Axel too. I still go :mjlol: when Elden Campbell got a ring with the Pistons in 04, beating the Lakers too ironically.

:what:

You yourself said they got a 3 peat, and Shaq didn't like him...but moving Jones for a hall of famer willing to take step back was a mistake? Wtf

They traded Rice a season and a half after getting him in the Jones trade, so they cut their losses ASAP. :francis: Don't disrespect Eddie, he still a Laker to me. The Hornets ended up winning that trade since they wound up getting the better player (Eddie Jones) out of the deal. Glen Rice was great, but he was on the decline as a Laker and got exposed on the defensive end, which was why Rick Fox was playing in crunch time while Rice complained on the bench. :whoa: Rice still got one of the GOAT jumpshots ever though, and he would have been a hall of famer if he kept his mouth shut and been apart of the 3-peat as a Laker. :mjpls: Would have been known as the greatest shooter ever if he stayed as a Laker for the long term.

No one could have known Rice was gonna bust like that with LA. He was coming off three straight All-Star seasons with Charlotte on incredible three point shooting. It just didn't work out. Everyone in the league would have made that move with Shaq and Kobe on the team. Seemed like a match made in heaven. Alas...:francis:

Van Exel getting dealt always hurt. He was a much better player than Fish, but just didn't fit because of ego. :mjcry:

Glen Rice is definitely not a Hall of Famer, but it was the right move at the time. Every team in the league would have made that move considering the position the Lakers were in.
