Yeah I kinda knew the answer. I wanted to have a discussion about the moral dilemma of making great money and then repenting after you've helped your family improve their lives.
There are plenty of religions that let you play those type of faithless games.
Islam is not one.
Riba/Usury is expressly forbidden. The extortion or exploitation of others.
This means if you know it is wrong to do something (like drink alcohol)... encouraging others to do so for any reason, especially personal gain, is disgusting and dishonorable. You sound real jewish right now if I'm being honest...
I am not Muslim by the way. But I have studied many religions and ideologies in extensive detail along my own path.
Keep your faith, and do not be swayed my material wants.
Serious question, no
The religion was started by a merchant, right? Seems odd that making profit through merchant activity would be a sin. I must be missing something?
You would rather it was started by a carpenter? What is your point?
The issue is not with barter, its that he is pushing something harmful onto others.
Also... I wouldn't even say it was started by a merchant. All of the Abrahamic Faiths (Christianity/Islam/Judiasm) stem from the same place and reference one another.
