Metacritic scores have generally been lower. That's it. Has nothing to do with quality, the scores are just lower.

Lower scores give people who wouldn't like/buy the games anyway(Haters) justification to come online and trash them, then the entire gen gets called a "disappointment"

Used to be a time where if it was a AAA game with any kind of hype it would automatically get 80 or better. Now games are coming in much lower. A 70 today would have been an 80-85 in 2006.

In conclusion, quit being a hater/whiney ass nikka. And enjoy the games

I own every major console released and a ton of games for each of them. I have not played anything other than current gen games for over 2 years and I don't miss the old gen either. Cats must have traded in all their old stuff and ended up with buyers remorse. They hate this gen and say last gen was better. So they start releasing a ton of remasters and they complain about remasters. Then they argue this gen should have more P's and FPS. If that's the argument then get on that PC wave.

I bought Rainbow Six Siege off the strength of the coli. I won't do that again. My gut told me not to buy it and I should have listened. The game is only fun with a full team. Otherwise the experience is garbage and the game is extremely limited.

Some games got higher scores inline with last Gen. A lot of big games don't live up to the hype.

Witcher 3, Bloodborne, FH2, Wii U games, etc got very high ratings. A lot of games that scores lower are arguably worst than their last gen game.

Games like FO4, Killzone SF, Halo 5 etc are lacking in some areas compared to their predecessors. Let's see how dark souls 3 and ratchet and clank review soon.

If you're a genuine gamer, then you're happy for the most part this gen. Has it been great so far? Maybe not, but there's been plenty of good games to play. I can't take "gamers" serious that let critics and their scoring systems decide whether or not they'll give a game a try.

Serious question...has anyone found young teens complaining about "This Gen". Kids that had the PS3 and 360 as their first console. Have you heard them complain. Because my theory is that the people that complain the most about this gen are the that want that old feeling back.

It needed more game modes though but I can't say the experience is garbage.

I loved it with a full squad. Jumping in with randoms is absolutely horrible. And the game itself is extremely limited as far as modes. No troll, I had way more fun with Titanfall as far as online only fps games go.
IMO R6 would have been a classic if they had a 4 player co-op story mode. That game just needs more.

It's been like 3 years and outside of Bloodborne and The Witcher 3 what generation defining games can you name off the top of your head?

HD remakes and remastered games have been very prominent. Games are getting shorter as well and most of these new IPs just aren't doing it. The previous two generations were flat out better than this and you know it.

I can play a game like The Order 1886 and enjoy it on some level but still acknowledge that it was a shyt game overall.

nah breh. Theres no way in hell you can argue that ahlo reach and 4 are better than 5.

Need for speed rivals scored higher than FH2.

Fallout 4 is a far better game than 3.

Bloodborne was pretty much a sequel to Dark Souls, and was a step back in a lot of ways. There's nothing "gen defining" about that.

Witcher 3 raised the bar for the entire WRPG genre and is only sitting a couple points above witcher 2. a good but not great game.

shoulda listened to your gut. We've been playing games for a long time, almost from the first reveal you should know whether you'll like a game or not.

I know im not into co-op anything, so I was never interested in the game. No matter how much hype/praise it gets.

and I think this is part of whats happening. people let the hype drive their intrest, then end up disappointed when they don't like a game they never would have liked in the first place
