I somewhat agree with you on this one

I was reading about their rare earth reserves the other day and it really is enormously valuable. Western allies having been looking for ways to circumvent the Chinese monopoly on rare earth materials for more than a decade now. They would be opening up a new market with NK (with deposit estimates worth the trillions) and bringing that into the world economy.

Now with that said, I don't think thats even a top 5 reason for them wanting to go in. The Koreas being re-unified, bringing NK out of isolation, removing the security threat, disarming their nuclear program, etc are higher priorities than raping their natural resources. Those resources will be necessary in helping rebuild the entire nation (if we go to war).
