let me first say that i think the realness is unquestionably one of the dopest albums to ever drop. if someone wanted to call it a classic, i would have a difficult time disagreeing with them. however, i do think he stepped up his bars on true meaning. that album is so honest and introspective, where you almost feel like you're in his shoes, watching him transition from the streets to the studio through his eyes. my problem with true meaning is the production. it wasn't necessarily bad, but it lacked the gritty and dark minimalism that made the realness so hauntingly infectious. american beauty. fallen soldiers. unforgiven. r u my nikka?

but again, the beats on true meaning weren't bad by any stretch and he had gems like these on it.
i'm going to have to go with the realness, but true meaning is close.
