...Is because he was too much of a biter and a follower. Check his resume:

Bounces from NWA, and hooks up with P.E's bomb squad, adopting the black consciousness vibe and P.E sound, which was red hot in hip hop at the time.

Transitions to 5% anti-white, Nation of Islam rapper to capitalize on the Malcolm X comeback, Farrakhan fueled wave, and middle America's obsession with the movement. Abandons this hastily. Actually the least egregious of his "phases".

Completely rips off the Death Row, Dr. Dre sound a year or two later, by quickly switching to a West Coast, frat boy type party rapper with George Clinton samples. See: Bop Gun.

Overnight, develops a hatred for the East out of nowhere (even tho the NY Bomb squad made him when he was in a vulnerable position in his career), creating the "Westside Connection", becoming a loud-mouthed, bi-coastal feud antagonist in order to insert himself and capitalize on the lucrative and dangerous East/West feud, which was little more than Puff vs. Suge, really. Only thing that came out of this was getting too full of himself, which resulted in Common gassin his ass, and biting his head off.

Plays himself in the Jiggy era, a year or two later by developing and becoming "Don Mega", a club obsessed, fake gangster persona. Amerikka's most wanted Cube woulda tried to kill this Cube. Literally.

Cube is dope, but truly great Mc's dont trend hop like this throughout their career.

This is your opinion. Its pathetic when people try to re-write history. I bet you feel the top 5 rappers are

1. Jay-Z
2. Shawn Carter
3. Jay Hova
4. Hovi
5. Mr. Carter Knowles

:smh:

Im sure you've heard this a lot in your life, but you're wrong. Jay is coo', but Im a Nas guy. That said, they dont have anything to do with this thread. Believe it or not, not everyone is obsessed with stanning rappers 24/7, and throwing shade on others in order to fetishize their obsessions w/ their fav rappers.

I offered this opinion, because thats what I believe and I backed it up with facts and content. Either debate what I wrote, or get the fck outta my thread.

he's still legit top 10 imo. if you let trendhopping and contradictions disqualify a rapper from being a GOAT candidate, then you'd have to cross Nas, Pac and Jay off the list.

Yeah, Cube was definitely heavily influenced by PE on AMW and DC to a certain extent, but whereas Chuck delivered his message in a much more preachy, didactic way, Cube broke it down in language that the average hood dude could understand. Imagine if a rapper had Lupe's content but Waka's delivery, that's basically the modern equivalent of what Cube accomplished during his prime. It was genius imo and he'll forever be a GOAT candidate solely because of that

I personally think Nas is the GOAT, but it's ironic that you have him as your number 1 based on the things you just said about Cube.

dude has blatantly contradicted himself numerous times in his career, was accused of selling out when he dropped IWW and blatantly sold out when he dropped Nastradamus.

This is true...and Nas became extremely unpopular for the Nas Escobar/hate me now phase. Every Nas fan admits, even Nas himself, that was a dark period in his artistry, and his career was pretty much submarined until the Jay Z battle. Nas became his own artist after that and revitalized his career and standing in hip hop.

Cube on the other hand did it again, and again, and again. Trend hopping defined his career. It wasnt just one or two instances.
