Campbell was drafted as the 25th pick in the 2005 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins under General Manager Vinny Cerrato. The Redskins traded up in the draft to get Campbell, surrendering a third round pick in the 2005 NFL draft, along with first and fourth round picks in 2006

Campbell has the talent but the ownership /management was and still is a mess.

Dude was wrecked by the time he got free.
Campbell's problem was a lack of confidence and all the different OC's he kept getting.

If we're being real Campbell at the end of his run in Washington > RG3 the last two years.

Why was Campbell missing such that he couldn't be a franchise QB again? Arm strength, playmaking ability, understanding defenses, etc?

They could have taken Rodgers earlier in the 1st but took... Carlos Rogers

ARod woulda turned out the same as Campbell without Mike McCarthy and Tom Clements plus sitting behind a hall of famer

Consistency from the organization. He should have been Alex Smith.

he had no confidence or playmaking ability.

None of you all actually watched Jason Campbell in DC, and even less than that with Auburn. Physical talent doesnt mean he has everything. Jason Campbell was a mediocre QB who Joe Gibbs' stupid self traded up to get. He didnt trade up to get Aaron Rodgers who was drafted before Campbell but instead for a guy who would have gone in the 2nd round in Campbell.

Right, this is what I saw from him in Cleveland. Campbell lacks creativity and ability to create things outside the pocket. A QB doesn't have to scramble per se to make plays, just buy time a la Rodgers or Romo and make a special throw. Regretfully Campbell has a distinct lack of this nuance and brilliance in his game.

Agree with everyone above. He wasn't gonna wow you, but he was steady, got the ball to the right guys, and wasn't gonna lose the game for you. Plus he kept getting hurt.

:snoop: As a Redskins fan I cringe at the possibility of this. And it's not like it was unlikely because the Packers had Favre and weren't going to need a QB for at least another 3 years. I feel we somehow would have fukked up Rodgers career though so it's a good thing we didn't get him.

the right guy being the fullback sitting in the flat, 5 yards from the line of scrimmage on a 3rd and 12. That was Jason Campbell.

there is a 80% chance we woud have fukked up AGawd
