Hear me out. This beef might get squashed pretty soon. Like most of the others on this board, I'd like to see it continue and approach GOAT levels for both, however there are others in the way. There are too many third party individuals with mutual interests tied into this contest. They could work their networks and shut it all down now.

Drake said what he had to say, Meek got to come out with his response. Nothing was really said, or threats made, that can't go back on. Both guys got to save face, more or less, with no collateral damage to label-mates or relationships.

Drake could end up tearing Meek apart in front of everyone. Nicki, Wayne, Ricky, Birdman, pretty much everyone in the industry knows this. Here are some problematic outcomes for everyone involved.

Nicki doesn't want Meek's career to come to an end.
Nicki probably doesn't want to lose Drake as an industry friend forever either.

Ross doesn't want his biggest prospect on his label to get destroyed.
Ross also can't have Meek leading the "Who's really REAL in rap?" campaign either.

If Meek gets Birdman involved (the only one who would expose Drake through and through) then that likely involves Wayne, Nicki, Ross, etc.

At some point, if the beef keeps going, Wayne and Ross would have to step in to protect their investments/artists.

There are lines that haven't been crossed yet that I'm sure a lot of people would just rather not cross. They could work their networks and shut this down now, with everyone saving face, before money and bridges get burned forever.

I don't really think Meek gives a fukk though

I thought this until I heard what he had to offer last night. He really just stuck to his "you had help with your recent songs, you aren't swaggy on your own" guns. He didn't pull out all of the stops. He had a few days to really get his ducks in a row and come out guns blazing. It was a really soft punch. For a song that was supposed to get Meek out of the corner he was in and open the fight back up, he really went soft, all things considered.

That's why I think that this was just a track he could release to save face, put some merit behind his claim, and let him say "well at least I responded." He didn't kick it to that next level, which could have and should have happened.

I think some networking was done to negotiate some "body blows only" rules behind the scenes and they'll get to walk away without stitches or broken bones.

He had hot lines in his track, but he was never gonna win the Twitter battle of public opinion

But why didn't he touch on the authenticity of Drake's life, career, writings, etc? He didn't touch the low hanging fruit that people have been waiting on someone to challenge Drake on. He didn't even go after Drake on really any kind of level other than "see, I told you, I knew you didn't write 3 lines in 4 songs"

Yea like Drake is gonna squash the beef with a nikka that exposed him with shyt that will forever taint his legacy as an all time lyricist:camby:

Baby isn't cool with Wayne but he JUST said in an interview he's going to keep Drake no matter what and that he's cool with him so why would he side with Meek?

If anyone's gonna try to settle the beef before it gets even crazier it would be Ross/Khaled considering they're the only ones with shyt to lose by burning those bridges but Ross stood by Meek last week when he was tweeting so I doubt it.. the damage is already done there's no turning back now.. it's never gonna be the same
